CHICAGO, SELASA - Video game sepertinya pantas direkomendasikan sebagai mainan bagi para dokter bedah. Selain sebagai hiburan, permainan yang menuntut ketrampilan jari tangan ini ditengarai juga dapat melatih kemampuan mereka melakukan pembedahan yang rumit. Hubungan yang erat antara ketrampilan bermain video game dan kemampuan dokter ahli melakukan pembedahan laparoskopik dilaporkan dalam Archives of Surgery edisi Februari. Laparoskopik dan pembedahan sejenis memang seperti bermain video game.
Dokter bedah hanya membuat lubang kecil di tubuh pasien untuk memasukkan instrumen dan kamera khusus ke dalam tubuh pasien lalu mengendalikannya dengan melihat melalui layar besar. Dari 33 dokter dari Pusat Kedokteran Beth Israel di New York, AS yang dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini, 9 di antaranya rutin bermain video game minimal tiga jam dalam seminggu. Dibandingkan dokter yang tidak pernah bermain video game, dokter-dokter yang rajin bermain video games ini membuat kesalahan 37 persen lebih rendah, melakukan pembedahan 27 persen lebih cepat, dan mendapat nilai ketrampilan 42 persen lebih tinggi.
"Ini mendukung penelitian sebelumnya yang menunjukkan bahwa video game dapat meningkatkan kemampuan motorik, koordinasi tangan dan mata, penglihatan, pemahaman ruang, dan kompetensi komputer," ungkap penelitinya, Profesor Douglas Gentile dari Universitas Negeri Iowa, AS. Menanggapi temuan ini, Dr. james Rosser dari Beth Israel menyatakan bahwa video game mungkin cocok untuk melatih para calon dokter bedah.

jdokter// – Microsoft’s Project Gotham Racing 3 for XBOX 360 tidak dapat mempertahankan kesehatan pada remaja meski melakukan permainan bowling, tennis atau tinju pada Nintendo’s Wii Sport, demikian yang ditemukan para peneliti di sini.Kecuali kesehatan yang diperoleh dengan melakukan olah raga langsung, catat Gareth Stratton, Ph.D dari Liverpool John Moores University and rekan yang diterbitkan pada 22 Desember dalam BMJ.
Pada intinya adalah bahwa video games aktif yang dimainkan anak-anak dapat membantu membakar minimal 51% kalori dibandingkan bermain games yang kurang aktif, namun perbedaan itu tidak terlalu berpengaruh dan perbandingan itu sangat tidak pasti atau dapat diperdebatkan.
Pembuangan energi diukur dengan menggunakan sistem IDEEA (inteligensi untuk pembuangan energi dan kegiatan yang mengukur jenis dan intensitas kegiatan fisik dengan menggunakan lima sensor yang ditempatkan di sekitar tubuh.

“Walaupun main game menjadi salah satu hiburan paling populer di dunia dan sudah dilakukan penelitian tentang dampak positif dan negatifnya terhadap player, masih saja game sering kali diremehkan.” Itu pernyataan dari Mark Griffiths, profesor di Nottingham Trent University, Inggris. Untuk menyeimbangkan antara pro dan kontra terhadap game, selama lima belas tahun terakhir ini ia melakukan riset. Hasilnya? “Video game aman untuk sebagian besar player dan bermanfaat bagi kesehatan,” ujar Griffiths.
Menurut Griffiths, game dapat digunakan sebagai pengalih perhatian yang ampuh bagi anak-anak yang sedang menjalani perawatan yang menimbulkan rasa sakit, misalnya chemotherapy. Dengan main game, rasa sakit dan pening mereka berkurang, tensi darahnya pun menurun., dibandingkan dengan mereka yang hanya istirahat setelah diterapi. Game juga baik untuk fisioterapi pada anak-anak yang mengalami cedera tangan.

Jepang - Bila dibandingkan dengan Nintendo Wii, konsol game Sony PlayStation 3 (PS 3) bisa dibilang kalah dilihat dari angka penjualannya. Demi mendongkraknya, Sony berencana menambah sejumlah video game eksklusif untuk PS 3 tahun ini.
Akhir Maret tahun depan, seperti dikutip detikINET dari Betanews, Sabtu (19/5/2007), Sony berharap sedikitnya bisa meluncurkan 15 game eksklusif untuk PS 3. Beberapa game diantaranya yang akan dirilis adalah "Warhawk" dan "Lair", serta game olahraga "MLB: The Show" yang sudah rilis 15 Mei lalu.
Menurut Sony, dengan menghadirkan game-game baru yang inovatif diharapkan akan membantu meningkatkan penjualan PS 3.
Kalahnya PS 3 di pasar konsol video game generasi ketujuh bisa jadi lantaran harga PS 3 yang terpaut "sangat" jauh dengan Wii. Dilihat dari penjualan pada bulan Februari 2007 saja, menurut laporan perusahaan periset pasar NPD Group, Wii mencatat penjualan paling tinggi dengan angka 335.000 unit. Sony PS 3 dinilai paling loyo yaitu dengan penjualan hanya 127.000 unit.
Sebagai perbandingan, harga PS 3 mencapai USD 599, USD 350 lagi mahal dibanding Nintendo Wii yang dijual eceran dengan harga USD 249.
Sony juga mengakui bahwa kurangnya video game yang dipasok ke PS 3 dan tingginya harga konsol tersebut, adalah dua masalah yang tengah dihadapi perusahaan. PS 3 bahkan sempat kehilangan beberapa kontrak eksklusifnya dengan pembuat video game gara-gara ada masalah pada konsol tersebut.

Jakarta - Sony menyangkal laporan yang menyatakan bahwa mereka akan menurunkan harga konsol PlayStation 3 (PS 3) sebesar USD 100.
Hal itu ditegaskan Presiden Sony, Ryoji Chubachi, dalam sebuah wawancara dengan Reuters, yang dikutip detikINET dari Vnunet, Sabtu (7/7/2007).
Sebelumnya, berhembus kabar di situs berita online Game Daily, yang menyebutkan bahwa industri ritel memperkirakan potongan harga itu akan dimulai pada 12 Juli, disusul dengan kampanye iklan pada 15 Juli.
Chubachi lalu menegaskan belum ada keputusan resmi untuk melakukan itu. "Saat ini kami belum ada rencana (melakukan pemotongan harga-red)," ujarnya.
Sony sendiri tertinggal jauh di belakang dari Nintendo Wii dalam penjualan konsol video game, Salah satunya lantaran harga Wii yang terpaut cukup jauh dari PS 3. Harga PS 3 mencapai dua kali lipat lebih dari Wii.
Bagaimanapun, Sony tampaknya 'enggan' memotong harga PS 3 untuk mendongkrak penjualan konsolnya karena teknologi yang dipakai konsol tersebut, termasuk pemutar DVD Blu-ray, sudah memakan biaya produksi yang tinggi.

An action-adventure is a video game that combines elements of the adventure game genrewith various action game elements. It is perhaps the broadest and most diverse genre in gaming, and can include many games which might better be categorized under narrow genres. The first known game in this genre is theAtari 2600 game adventure (1979).
With the decline of the adventure game genre from mainstream popularity, the use of the term (and the hybrid term "action-adventure") has been more liberal. It is not uncommon for gamers to apply the term "adventure" or "action adventure" to describe the genre of fiction to which a game belongs, and not the gameplay itself, usually to the dismay of adventure game purists.
It is important to note the distinction between thematic genres and gameplay genres, as in this case they have very different meanings and etymology. "Adventure" is a reference to the early computer game of the same name, and has no thematic or narrative meaning, nor any connection to adventure movies. Similarly, while action games usually do have violent themes similar to action movies, this is not a requirement.
Action-Adventure is a hybrid genre, and thus the definition is very inclusive, leading it to be perhaps the broadest genre of computer and video games.
Typically:
- Pure adventure games have situational problems for the player to solve, with very little or no action. If there is action, it is generally confined to isolated mini games.
- Pure action games have gameplay based on real-time interactions that challenge the reflexes.
- Action-adventure games engage both reflexes and problem-solving, in both violent and non-violent situations.
Definition and confusion
The term action adventure itself has become more generalized since its introduction, and can now be used to refer to virtually any game which combines elements of real-time action-based challenges with some element of problem solving. The genre exists largely to distinguish these games from pure adventure games, or from adventure games. It should be noted that adventure games never have a pronounced action element, limiting the action-based challenges to mini-games or other brief sequences. RPGs by definition have elements of pen and paper role playing games, such as "experience points" and other statistic-driven gameplay. Games in the Metroid series are better classified as action-adventure because of this.
Due to the lack of a definition of the term "action-adventure" (although it may be considered a game that contains elements of both genres on assumption) there are quite a few disagreements in the community and in the media over what actually constitutes an action-adventure game. One definition of the term "action adventure" may be '“An action/adventure game is a game that has enough action in it not to be called an adventure game, but not enough action to be called an action game. Others see action games as a pure genre, while an action-adventure is an action game that includes situational problem-solving. Regardless, disagreements over which games fit under the categories are particularly prominent in articles over the internet and media. Action-adventure games may have a free roaming feel, but the term is usually not used when a narrower sub-genre, like Action-RPG is better applied.
Common features
In action-adventure games, while reflex-based actions are required (often revolving around combat or the avoidance thereof), the gameplay still follows a number of adventure game genre tropes (gathering item, and reflection with one's environment, often including an overworld connecting areas exlploration of areas of importance, and puzzle-solving). While the controls are arcade-style (character movement, few action commands) there is an ultimate goal beyond a high score. This type of game is often quite similar to computer role playing games.
They are distinct from graphic adventure which sometimes have free-moving central characters, but also wider variety of commands and fewer or no arcade game elements and are distinct too from text adventure characterized by many different commands introduced by the user via a complex text parser and no free-moving character. While they share general gameplay dynamics, action-adventures vary widely in the design of their viewpoints, including bird eye, side scrolling, first person,third person,over the shoulder, or even 3/4 view.
Many action-adventure games simulate a conversation through a conversation tree. When the player encounters a non-player character,they are allowed to select a choice of what to say. The NPC gives a scripted response to the player, and the game offers the player several new ways to respond.
Sub-genres
As said before, the action adventure game is hard to define; however, there are some distinct sub-genres. Popular sub-genres include:
- Survival horror games, like the Alone in the Dark series, Resident Evil, Silent Hill series, and Dead Rising "Eternal Darkness : Sanity requim" which emphasize "inventory management" and making sure the player has enough ammunition and recovery items to "survive" the horror setting. Survival-horror is a thematic genre with diverse gameplay, however, so not all survival horror games share these features.
- Platform-adventure games such as Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which emphasize both exploration and puzzle solving, but also feature traditional action and platform game conventions. These are also known as "Castleroid" or "Metroidvania" games.
- Actio-role playing game, such as the Baldur's Gate : Dark Alliance series, Secret of Mana , and Land Stalker.
- Isometric platform games, often most associated with the ZX Spectrum, including Knigt Role and Head Over Heels. These games featured freely explorable environments with three dimensional gameplay, and two-dimensional graphics using an Isometric projection
- First-person action-adventures such as Metroid Prime which combine First-person shooters with important adventure game elements such as environmental problem-solving and a more complex plot.

For that, they integrated science and knowledge about serving patient from Spectrum Health with Cerner Millenium Health Care Information Tecnology (HIT) with Microsoft Windows Media Center. The purpose of Care Console development is provide the best services and to leave out treatment trauma in hospital, especially for kids patient. So they'll feel comfort along treatmeant. Now, Cerner Care Console only use in Butterworth, Grand Rapids, USA, and expected be able to cure quickly the patient.
